Who's the Holy Spirit Anyway?

February 22, 2026

When your world feels like total chaotic desolation, where is God?
In this second message of The Familiar Stranger series, we discover that the Holy Spirit has been present since the very beginning, hovering over darkness and bringing order from chaos. Drawing from Genesis 1:1-2, we explore two Hebrew words that reveal something profound about God's nature.

What happened between "In the beginning God created" and "the earth was formless and empty"? More importantly, what does this teach us about how God works in our darkest moments? The Spirit who hovered over the waters in Genesis is the same Spirit available to every believer today, not just for particular people or particular purposes, but for all followers of Christ, for their entire lifetimes, for every need.

We live in perilous times: global unrest, personal crises, families falling apart. If the church relies on its own strength to navigate these times, we are without hope. But the Holy Spirit is in the business of recreating. That's His job. Whether you're facing addiction, isolation, illness, or relational breakdown, the Spirit brings life where there is death.
