During the summer of 2005, a number of families sensed God’s calling to do "something different" for the cause of Christ in the Sauk Prairie area. We saw a need to minister to those who have no spiritual home, whether never churched or feeling uncomfortable in the traditional church setting. We wanted to minister and release people to minister through their gifts and God-given abilities.

Initially, we were a small group gathering with no physical meeting place. Devil’s Lake State Park, a families’ walk-out basement and back yard in Roxbury and then a large lawn under an oak canopy on the north side of Prairie du Sac. Finally, the arrival of fall pushed us indoors. We will never forget the beauty and hospitality of those first homes and yards!

 

Those days taught us that it’s people inhabited by the Spirit that makes a church, not a building! Our calling to do "something different" meant providing an environment which allows people who might not "have it all together” to explore the claims of Christ. We made a decision as a church family that ANYONE will be welcome at River Hills Church. We want people to "come as you are"... a "No Perfect People Allowed" culture. Come as You Are is way beyond the clothes you wear; it doesn’t matter where you are in your life socially, politically, morally or economically. Come. Learn at your own pace. Ask questions. We believe you’ll find what you’re looking for. Join us as we seek God together. Just come as you are.
