Pray This Way! (and find peace)
February 1, 2026
What if prayer could lift you above the chaos instead of leaving you stuck in the middle of it?
In this message of our January prayer rhythms series, we explore the midday prayer: a powerful practice of interceding for others, especially those in authority. Drawing from 1 Timothy 2:1-8, we're challenged with Paul's urgent instruction: "First of all, of utmost importance, pray for all people... pray for kings and all who are in authority."
But here's the revelation: This isn't about praying for peaceful circumstances. It's about praying in a way that produces peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity, even when the world around you is in turmoil.
Paul wrote these words from a Roman prison in AD 64 under Emperor Nero's persecution. He wasn't living in peaceful circumstances, yet he found contentment. How? By praying from God's perspective, above the fray rather than in the mix of it.
This message addresses a question many wrestle with: How do we pray for leaders we disagree with? How do we intercede for people on all sides of conflict? The answer transforms our anxiety into action and our division into dignity.
Jesus intercedes for us constantly. We're called to do the same for others, free from anger and controversy.
